Who are we?

The Vocal Rooms was founded by a brother and sister team. Hannah, was a keen Spice Girls impersonator, who developed a love for karaoke whilst living in Singapore. Ed thought he was far too indie for karaoke, but tried it when he saw Radiohead on the play list. Soon, however, he realized it was far more fun to sing Phil Collins!

Why did we start the Vocal Rooms?

We couldn’t quite perform like The Carpenters, and Same Difference on X-factor were just creepy, but we loved singing. So, instead of performing, we decided to focus our minds on bringing singing to you - whatever your ability, because it’s not about how well you can sing, it’s about how much fun you can have.

What’s all this talk of fluffing?

If you go into a Vocal Room, you may need a little warming up as that first song can be nerve wracking. This is where a Vocal Rooms’ fluffer comes in. They will show you how to use the kit and perhaps help you to find your first song. The Fluffer is a term we coined from our friend and karaoke guru Dougie. It’s quite naughty as it originates from the porn industry where a fluffer is someone whose job is to get the actors in the mood for the big moment (if you see what we mean!). Anyway, we have every faith that our fluffers will get you in the mood for your big moment at the Vocal Rooms.

How do we operate?

We operate in partnership with existing venues - mainly bars and pubs. We install our custom built private singing rooms with exclusive karaoke and video up-load system into their space. We also handle the bookings process through our website. The bars and pubs can help with special requirements for your party, and will look after you once you arrive, with their fully trained Vocal Rooms fluffers.
